Made for the Elements
For nearly five decades aquata has designed and built survival and protective suits for people who work where conditions are unforgiving – at sea, offshore, in floodwater, underwater and on operations.
Ready to perform when it matters most
To safeguard lives through innovative design and uncompromising quality.
We understand how critical it is to have the right gear on hand when it matters most – for passengers and crew in an emergency evacuation, for offshore technicians, rescue teams and operators at sea.
When you choose aquata you are choosing a legacy of safety, innovation and trust. Our suits are more than protective gear – they are a lifeline in the most demanding conditions, developed in Germany and built by craftspeople who put their expertise into every seam.
Nearly fifty years of protective clothing
aquata was founded in West Berlin in 1977 as a development and production company for protective clothing. In the early years we made diving and surf suits for the consumer market, developed special surfboards with international partners and laid the foundations of our neoprene production together with a Japanese partner.
In 1989 we opened our own factory in Thailand, where production has continued ever since. Technical development moved aquata into professional protective clothing, and within a few years we had become one of the leading manufacturers of immersion suits for the shipping industry. More than 200,000 neoprene suits have since been produced and are in service on vessels worldwide. Since 2021 textile immersion suits have become an important part of our range.
Developed in Germany. Built in our own factory.
Every suit begins on our own drawing board in Velten before it is built in our factory in Thailand – by skilled craftspeople, to the standards set in Germany. We believe the difference is in the details.
- White neoprene. Used exclusively in our Premium immersion suits: flame-resistant, self-extinguishing and bright orange even when wet – easier to spot from a distance.
- Triple-glued seams. Built to withstand long storage on deck, reducing inspection and maintenance costs for operators.
- Hand-taped seams. On our trilaminate drysuits every seam is taped by hand on the inside for lasting watertightness.
Quality is built in – not inspected in
Development
Designed and engineered in Germany. New cuts and materials are adopted only if they bring a measurable advantage.
Production
Our own factory in Thailand has built aquata suits since 1989 – by skilled craftspeople, to the standards set in Velten.
Quality control
Every immersion suit is individually pressure-tested before delivery.
Supplier control
Incoming materials are inspected, and new suppliers are screened on the basis of their quality management systems.
Practical testing
Beyond SOLAS: instead of the minimum jump height, our suits are tested with 10-metre jumps.
Continuous improvement
Feedback from users, trained service stations and partners flows directly back into development.
Certified where it counts
Our immersion suits are approved to MED and SOLAS for 6 hours in cold water, our offshore overalls and rescue suits for 1 hour – and the V40 is ready for the Polar Code. Certification is documented per product and per version, not claimed across a catalogue.
Built around the application
A rescue crew in floodwater needs something different from a commercial diver, an offshore technician or a ship’s crew in cold water. We develop around the application – and where a standard product does not fit, we develop one that does.
Service that outlasts the sale
aquata trains the service stations that sell and maintain its suits. Inspection, pressure testing, maintenance and repair are available worldwide – and directly from aquata for short turnaround times.
